Strategy: Tenure crisis β€” 0 ha realistic accessible land until security stabilises. Emergency greenhouse programme on urban/peri-urban plots instead.
EMERGENCY PROGRAMME

Emergency Greenhouse Programme

Haiti has 0 hectares of realistically accessible land due to the ongoing tenure and security crisis. Instead of open-field farming, this plan deploys 500 ha of protected agriculture on urban and peri-urban plots.

WHY GREENHOUSE-ONLY
01Land tenure crisis β€” no secure access to open farmland
02Security situation prevents rural agricultural investment
03Urban greenhouses can be guarded and monitored
04Protected structures survive hurricane damage better than open fields
05Vertical farming maximises yield per square metre

Methodology: Agroforestry and reforestation carbon credits command premium pricing ($25-45/tCO2e) under Verra VCS VM0047 and Gold Standard. Credits are verifiable from project start via continuous satellite monitoring (Sentinel-2, 5-day revisit). Conservative estimate uses $35/tCO2e β€” actual prices may be higher as A/R (afforestation/reforestation) credits are scarce and in growing demand.
